Anise Syrup (حبة حلاوة, Habet Hlawa) is an Algerian drink.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of anise seeds
 - 12dl of water
 - Sugar cubes
 
Procedure
- Pour water into a saucepan, add in the sorted anise seeds and bring to a boil on medium heat.
 - Turn off the heat and leave to infuse covered for 30 minutes.
 - Filter.
 - Add the sugar as desired and bring to boil on medium heat again while monitoring until the syrup drips into a thin stream.
 - Filter a second time.
 - Let it cool and bottle. Serve with sparkling or still water according to preference but very cold.
