Introduction

Source Filmmaker, abbreviated as SFM, is an animation program developed by Valve Studios. Released 2012, the program has helped thousands import their ideas into amazing recordings and videos.

Quick History

Originally developed in tandem with the game Day of Defeat, an online multiplayer game, Source Filmmaker was built upon the Source Engine, an independent system program built from the ground up. In actuality, Source Filmmaker was developed internally by Valve for studio use. However, in 2012, Source Filmmaker was released to the public in an open beta. Since then, it has received multiple updates. Source Filmmaker has received numerous updates that included ported assets from various Valve titles, including Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat, Left 4 Dead, and many more.
