TESOL/MINUS principle
The MINUS principle is a set of five points to guide ESL lessons. Following this principle increases the likelihood that the lesson will proceed smoothly and that students will learn as much as possible.
- Meaning: relevant language
- Interest: have a variety of activities
- New language: keep new language to a minimum
- Understanding: make it easy to understand
- Stress-free: students should not be under stress
