  • @Kulfy . I don't understnad how can he reinstall, because in the first place he is getting error while installing. – cloud.009 Dec 27 '18 at 20:42
  • @Kulfy what you said is exactly correct, but i have been through the exact error while using ubuntu..I didn't purged it though, i just removed the file from dpkg info and everything ran fine afterwards. Also i didn't advice him to purge anything, as you can see it. – cloud.009 Dec 28 '18 at 10:42
  • @Kulfy How did we know the one who asked question is not answering anything.. haha :D – cloud.009 Dec 28 '18 at 17:10
  • @Kulfy i tried 'sudo apt install --reinstall python-minimal' command and getting the errors. detailed console logs i have added in my post – Bhavin Dec 29 '18 at 05:27

You can just remove the entry from dpkg status,to do that go to vim /var/lib/dpkg/status and remove the error creating files. Then just configure your dpkg using sudo dpkg --configure -a then use sudo apt-get -f install , then your installation will get resumed where it had stopped. Hope this helps you with your problem.

  • Else you can use this – cloud.009 Dec 27 '18 at 10:23
  • Hi cloud.009, I not understand which entry i have to remove. so from the logs can you please suggest me which entry i have to remove from vim /var/lib/dpkg/status. – Bhavin Dec 27 '18 at 11:45
  • Use 'sudo apt autoremove' – cloud.009 Dec 27 '18 at 12:58
  • Hi cloud.009, i have tried 'sudo apt autoremove' command but i am getting error. i have added detailed console logs of 'sudo apt autoremove' command in my post. – Bhavin Dec 27 '18 at 14:05
  • 'ls -l /var/lib/dpkg/info | grep -i python-minimal'. Then remove it using 'sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/info/python-minimal.* /tmp'. Hope this will help you. – cloud.009 Dec 27 '18 at 20:44
  • Hi cloud.009, 'ls -l /var/lib/dpkg/info | grep -i python-minimal' and 'sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/info/python-minimal.* /tmp' these two commands works and i can install software, but when i give 'sudo apt-get update' then 'sudo apt-get upgrade' commands then nothing getting upgrade detailed logs of these commands i have added in my post – Bhavin Dec 29 '18 at 05:39
  • @Bhavin It is because you dont have anything to update and upgrade. As you said now you can install packages, that means your problem is solved. Also please mark this as solved. Thankyou – cloud.009 Dec 29 '18 at 15:07
  • Also try 'sudo apt-get install python-minimal' then everything will be fine. – cloud.009 Dec 29 '18 at 15:09
