my ubuntu 10.10 x64 was installed on this box one year ago, with 6Gb of ram.

recently i've noticed that system monitor reports just 3.9GiB for memory. That can't possibly be right (in windows i'm having access to the full 6Gb of ram on the same machine)

any idea what might be happening?

  • Can you post the outputs of uname -m and free -m. Does the BIOS recognizes all of RAM? Please, update the question with that info instead of posting it in the comments section. – mikewhatever Mar 17 '12 at 03:19
  • interesting @rye but this is intel processor, the bios bug seems to be only for AMD FX? – lurscher Mar 17 '12 at 20:31
