  • Could you give us more details, such as the desktop environment (Gnome, KDE, etc.) that you are running? Also, what graphics card do you have? On the TV, when you plug something else into that HDMI port of the TV does it show something (if you have Windows installed as well, you could try booting into that)? Currently it's showing that the HDMI cable connection is not detected. Also, I am assuming you are running this on a laptop. – G Trawo May 12 '20 at 00:35
  • the environment is gnome, my graphics card is Nvidia 1050ti, and the tv pairing worked on windows os, and yes I am running on a laptop! thank you for the quick reply! – Shadow Lynch May 12 '20 at 00:52

  • Sounds like the right candidate for a new question! Anyways, have a go at this and see if it answers your question: https://itsfoss.com/how-to-fix-no-sound-through-hdmi-in-external-monitor-in-ubuntu/ – G Trawo May 12 '20 at 12:59
