I am facing the common problem of adapter not found on Ubuntu 18 while trying to connect wifi. I followed this WiFi adapter not found in Ubuntu 18.04

These steps:

sudo modprobe -r rtl8723de
sudo modprobe rtl8723de

give me "module not found error".

So, I ran:
lspci -nn

Now which driver do I require? What steps do I have to follow?

  • If the wifi is the problem why are you looking at Ethernet? Look for the wireless in the lspci list. – lev258 Jul 01 '20 at 17:01

Above information from your lspci output tells that you have BCM4312 wireless. You will need wired Internet connection to fix it.

Open Terminal and type:
sudo apt install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer

This should solve the problem. You might need sudo apt update before if it's a new install of Ubuntu.

Reboot the computer.
