There is no other error in the terminal. My server is a repurposed Desktop computer that used to work fine.

I ran startx as root on Ubuntu 22.

  • what happened exactly? What is the question? – Esther Jul 05 '22 at 19:18

Edit your question and add context and details. It's not clear what you're asking. Start by telling us what version of Ubuntu you are using. Tell us what you're trying to do. Explain what you actually did and provide the detailed results of your actions. Finally, so that we are clear what you're asking, you can try putting your question in the form of a question. Then before submitting, reread the question and ask yourself if you added enough details that someone might be able to answer your question. – Nmath Jul 05 '22 at 19:36

@Nmath: This most probably concerns Ubuntu 22.04 (kernel version 5.15.0-39-generic) based on the version of Xorg X server. The question is "what caused the informational log entry "xf86EnableIO: failed to enable I/O ports 0000-03ff (Operation not permitted)" beyond what the message itself already spells out. – Cbhihe Oct 05 '22 at 14:02
