Need help with screen resloutions

Question

So My screen resolution is off my screen because I use a TV so I use a custom screen resolution 1824x1026 is what I use. While I try to set it to that resolution I get these messages:

Have you tried other resolutions, like 1680x1050 or 1280x720? And are you trying to get both screens to show the same display/ have the same resolution? — Wilf, Jan 30 '14 at 22:06

You can run xrandr for a list of available resolutions. Here is the example output for a Laptop:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm
   1366x768       60.0*+
