I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to install vlc via ubuntu software centre. When I press Install, the following prompt shows up

**Package dependencies cannot be resolved**

This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

To install vlc type the following commands in terminal.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update

If there shows no error.Then type

sudo apt-get install vlc

For any error,report. :)
