Wireless Networks Not getting Detected Ubuntu 12.04

Question

Wireless networks are not getting detected on my Ubuntu 12.04 after a restart. I did'nt install anything. Just installed the automatic updates after which I restarted my Laptop. Now its not detecting any of the wireless networks.

What's the model name of your wireless card? So it works before the update? Please open your terminal (ctrl+alt+t) and paste the lspci -nn| grep Network output back here. Thanks. — P.-H. Lin, Sep 17 '14 at 09:22

If your BIOS has wireless settings, try to disable it from there, reboot, re-enable it. Silly but sometime it works. — g_p, Sep 17 '14 at 12:23

according to the clues you provided here, it looks like a regression to the kernel.

However, the kernel (3.5 Quantal) you're using has reached EOL (End-Of-Life).

I will suggest you to upgrade to the new HWE (Hardware Enablement Stack) support, which is kernel 3.13 Trusty, by following these steps:

Search for "update" in your dash
Open the Update Manager and select the "Install" button here (You could upgrade to 14.04.1 as you wish.)

If you have your system upgraded to 3.13 kernel, and it's still not working...
This issue should be reported as a bug, please use ubuntu-bug linux command in your terminal to open a bug report on Launchpad.

Kernel is still 3.5 i think. I have only one update remaining in the update Manage that is -> "Firmware for linux kernel drivers" which is getting failed when I install – Ganesh R Sep 17 '14 at 10:46

Lin I have corrected the problem but still its not detecting wireless networks. Now I am able to upgrade. The update List is Empty in the Update Manager – Ganesh R Sep 17 '14 at 11:58
