I am unable to open Software Centre. When I do try to open it the window opens for a couple of minutes and then closes. When I attept to run in terminal I get this message:

I tried to update ubuntu in the hopes that it would fix the problem, but that does not seem to do anything. The Problem started to occur after Steam had issues updating. I do not know if it is relevant but here is the message that I was given was:

It looks like the steam list is empty or is broken and this disturbs your package update.

My first try would be to move all the steam-lists from /var/lib/apt/lists to a temporary directory in my home folder and also move the steam PPA settings from /etc/apt/sources.d to that.

Then do an apt-get update again and look if the cache setup is now working again. If it is then add again the steam PPA to /etc/apt/sources.d and again do an apt-get update. If you get the same error message as above then you need to update your steam PPA maybe. I expect that the software-center is working again when the apt cache does not have any failures anymore.
