I get this when I try and install apps or update using terminal and software updater.

  • I have never attempted to edit anything in /etc/apt/sources.list? I've never even hear of /etc/apt/sources.list. – ryzuken Apr 13 '16 at 15:59
  • You probably ran some command that wrote something there, not knowing what it does. Please [edit] your question and post the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list there. – Pilot6 Apr 13 '16 at 16:00
  • So you added 3 wrong lines at the end by running a command. Remove the last 3 lines. – Pilot6 Apr 13 '16 at 16:09
  • Your /etc/apt/sources.list looks OK to me. However, do a grep -R 2oreign /etc/apt/sources.list.d/, there is something suspicious in another .list file. – Jos Apr 13 '16 at 16:11

    then did sudo apt-get update but still received the same error.

    I then tried the sudo grep -R 2oreign /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ but nothing happened and I'm still receiving the same error.
