I fail to access tracking data collected with Transystem iBlue 747. The device is switched on and is probably recognized (ubuntu 16.04). It is reported that it works well under ubuntu.

dmesg returns

I tried to download the tracks using mtkbabel but am aked if the device is switched on.

mtkbabel /dev/ttyACM0 -f test -c
Cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0. Did you switch ON the GPS device?

No success with bt747 and gpsd, too.

Any hints are highly appreciated. Sorry for my limited skills. I would be very happy if we can avoid using Windows since I recently pushed through the installation of linux on my working station at the University Cheers, jens

Solved. Thanks to user march!!

The issue with the permissions for /dev/ttyACM0 can be permanantly solved by adding yourself to the dialout group. You will have to logout and then log back in before the group change is recognized.

You can do this with sudo usermod -a -G dialout terrik if terrik is your username.
