Questions tagged [tomboy]

Tomboy is a desktop note-taking application which is simple and easy to use. It lets you organise your notes intelligently by allowing you to easily link ideas together with Wiki style interconnects.

Have you ever felt the frustration at not being able to locate a website you wanted to check out, or find an email you found interesting, or remember an idea about the direction of the political landscape in post-industrial Australia? Or are you one of those desperate souls with home-made, buggy, or not-quite-perfect notes systems?

Time for Tomboy. We bet you'll be surprised at how well a little application can make life less cluttered and run more smoothly.

Tomboy is written in C# and utilizes the Mono runtime and Gtk#. Automatic spell-checking is provided by GtkSpell.

Features:

  • Highlighting text
  • Inline spell checking
  • Auto-linking web & email addresses
  • Undo/redo
  • Font styling & sizing
  • Bulleted lists
  • Web synchronization to multiple devices

Excerpted directly, with very slight modification, from the Tomboy home page.

Is there any way to add an option to right click menus for text files and/or highlighted text to "send to Tomboy" so that it would create a new note with the contents of the text file or highlighted text as the contents of the new note?

Can't copy highlighted text from Tomboy to Thunderbird (or other apps)

Not sure why but I can only copy text from Tomboy notes to Gedit and then re-highlight and copy in to the app I need the text in. I am guessing this is a simple issue of config and not a real problem. Any help greatly appreciated.
