Hi, I'm a senior project engineer in heavy industry / industry and a die-hard linux user for 15+ years. Have tried RedHat, CentOS, SuSE, Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, and a couple of others. Have come back to Ubuntu Mate since about 2012.

Enjoy the huge ocean of learning opportunity that Linux, not to say Ubuntu, LibreOffice, Mate, scripting, FreeCAD, etc. and recently ProjectLibre, let alone the planetary community.

Also very bent to the environment having developed a small 65kW wind turbine on a 60m (200ft) lattice guy wire tower. Developing some solar business opportunities. Also have worked on a pyroliser/gassifier for residual waste streams with extremely low emissions.

Very, very concerned about the distraction that is the climate change. Climate change will not cause as huge loss of life of all forms as will the end of planetary fishery, loss of effectiveness of antibiotics and unstoppable new number of diseases. The worst is that the younger generations are starting to believe that the global nuclear arsenal is a urban legend. Climate change may reduce human population by 30-65%, but a nuclear winter will end all life on earth for 10,000's of years.
