I'm more of an "anti-Microsoft" person than a "pro-Ubuntu" person. I've used Ubuntu off and on for several years, (I think the first version I used had a cube desktop) but usually due to frustration, went back to Windows. I find Ubuntu to be more of a programmer's OS, than a user's OS. (but I keep coming back) My first computer, not counting the Coleco Adam I had in the mid '80's, was an XT running DOS in '90. I also know quite abit about html, css, php, etc., but not enough to be considered an expert in any programming language.
My last install of Ubuntu was 16 in 2018, with a usb wifi adaptor, which Ubuntu didn't have a driver for. Found and installed the driver, but lost it with subsequent upgrades. Frustration set in and booted to Windows for about a year. Landlord finally let me run a network cable to my room and tried again. I upgraded from 16 to 18 to 19 to 20, but something went wrong along the way. Finally decided to download and burn a 20.04 dvd, erase the old Ubuntu completely and start from there. BINGO. I'm back again.
Ubuntu has a lot of great things going for it. The main magnet for me is it's a community effort. Then there's the lack of bloatware, programs usually run faster for me, and it's not Microsoft.
Thanks. :)
