My name is k0ryfi (derived from Greek "supreme".) I was introduced to programming in 2007, by a friend of mine, originally starting with HTML code. I started simple using Notepad and Internet Explorer 7, and eventually grew more ambitious. In 2008, I heard about MIT's program for learning to program called Scratch. I spent time on there regularly from 2008 to 2012, with my interest eventually dissipating with the release of Scratch 2.0. During 2008, Scratch was my main focus, and from there, I heard about languages more complex. I spent 2009-2010 mastering JavaScript, CSS, and PHP. I spent 2011 managing school problems, learning Java, and keeping up my skills in web languages. 2012 was mostly a dark year for my language learning, as school work stepped up a notch and required more of my attention. I did briefly focus on Python, but not very seriously. In 2013, I began my interest in Ubuntu, and by mid-2013 had running full-time on my laptop, and also started learning languages again. I learned, some Assembly, and Scala, although the last two I don't use frequently enough to keep sharp. I started off 2014 by wiping the monstrosity that is Windows 8 off of the hard drive of my new laptop and installing Ubuntu, a process that took me the better part of a week due to extremely new and unsupported hardware. I succeeded thanks to this article, and am now running Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr" with full functionality on a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro.
