I'm a computer engineer with a strong concern with humanitarian causes. During the last years, I've been working close to the third sector, spending some periods in the field. I was working almost one year in Burundi and more than two years in Mozambique.

My working experience is nowadays centered in data engineering for the biomedical research area. I'm pretty experienced in rigorous data collection and management for monitoring, evaluation and research. I've been working with various types of data sources including clinical data (morbidity surveillance systems and clinical trials); biological data (laboratory information management systems); demographics data (demographic surveillance systems); routine monitoring data (district health information systems); and evaluation data (household surveys).

I love to work in multi-cultural contexts. I'm able to communicate in Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. In fact, I have much more experience working with African than European partners. I need to see the results of my day-to-day efforts running in the field. And I really like technology, but for me it is crucial to center this technology in the user and help people to execute processes in a more natural, flexible and human way. Furthermore, I strongly believe in the open source and appropriate technology movements and I do not think that technology is the perfect solution just for being technology.
